Specification For Masonry Structures - Products

Joint Reinforcement

Except as otherwise specified, proved joint reinforcement manufactured with wire conforming to ASTM A 82 and with deformed longitudinal wires. One set of deformation shall occur around the perimeter of the wire at a maximum spacing of 0.7 times the diameter of the wire but there shall not be less than eight sets per inch of length. The overall length of each deformation within the set shall be such that the sum of gaps between the ends of the deformations shall not exceed 25 percent of the perimeter of the wire. The height or depth of the deformation shall be 0.011 in. (0.28 mm) for wire size W2.1 in. (0.30 mm) for wire size W2.8 (3/16) or larger, 0.011 in. (0.28 mm) for wire size W2.1, and 0.0009 in. (0.23 mm) for wire size W1.7 (9ga). Cross wires are permitted to be plain.
