Copper
Aqua-Flash®
Description
A composite flexible flashing composed of a layer of polyester
film bonded to a solid sheet of soft tempered copper bonded
to 32 mils of a highly adhesive SBS modified bitumen (rubberized
asphalt) with a removable silicone coated liner. By encapsulating
the copper in the film and the rubberized asphalt, the copper
is completely protected from any alkalis or acids found in concrete
or mortar. Copper Aqua Flash membrane can be applied as part
of a system which uses both Aqua Flash primer and mastic. It
may be applied to masonry, concrete, steel, wood and gypsum.
Features and Benefits
Copper Aqua Flash is self-adhering and self-sealing and offers
excellent puncture and abrasion resistance. It is designed to
“self-heal” if damaged slightly during installation,
since the adhesive system will elongate and recover. It offers
high temperature stability.
Materials
Flashings shall be Copper Aqua Flash consisting of 2 or 3 oz.
copper sheet laminated with film on one side and bonded to 32
mils of rubberized asphalt for a total mil thickness respectively
of 60 mils and 70 mils.
